DC Coupled 6SN7 drive 2A3 Single End. Really liked the sound from the James Transformers
13EM7 Single Ended Amp. My spin on the circuit from the late Fred Nachbaur.
DC Coupled EL84-drive-EL84 Amp. HK and Tamradio Iron. Good performer once heaters were lifted to cathode voltage on the second stage. Will post the schematic when time allows.
Another 13EM7 amp. Spunky sound in a small package.
Skylark 2A3. 5 watts of magical SE mojo. Met an ignominious and untimely death at the hands of the USPS. Version 2.0 will be out sometime this summer.
Halloween Amp from 2007. Scary.
Darling amp.
Chevaline amp. 19FX5 spud amp. Tube regulated screen power supply. Punchy pentodes.
6S45P-E Spud amps.
Darling amp driven with 6AM4 triodes. My spin of the classic.
EL84-drive-EL84 SE amp. Itty-bitty output transformers, big sound.
Hellcat – 6SN7 Drive 6SN7. 2-1/2 watts of parallel single ended fun.
Push-Pull 6AQ5 output, driven by EL84 Triode strapped input. Different sound came out with a bit more bite than I prefer. End user was into techno – made him happy.
Cutesy Preamp. Light on the big red switch draws more power than the rest of it put together…
Beast from the East – US Glass, all oriental iron. 6AM4 driving 6BQ5s. EL84/6BQ5 amps are nice – this one was phenomenal. On my ‘build another one’ list.
6L6GB SE amp. 6SN7 preamp with interstage transformer. Gas regulated Screen supplies gave a cool purple and orange aura in the dark.
Hi there,
I am looking for a schematic of El84 drive El84 single ended tube amplifier.
Could you kindly share the schematic?
Hand written schematic is fine too.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Do you think you tell me how you wire the 6am4 tubes? I have some, but they all seem to be microphonic. I must be doing something wrong.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the note! I have not had issues with microphonics, but I have at times struggled with ultrasonic oscillations, which can manifest a lot like microphony. What has worked for me is to completely clip off the redundant grid pins at the tube base (#’s 1,4,6 & 9), and to install a grid stopper resistor directly to the socket of the remaining grid pin location (#3). Exact Value will depend on your circuit. I hope this is of some help!

Love your works of art. Did you ever finish a Skylark 2.0?

Hello, and thank you for your kind words! Skylark 2.0 / Granit Prime never made it off the test bench. By the time I had it sounding decent, it was an electronic Rube Goldberg masterpiece. Going a different route now – moving back to SE and building out a 71A amp running in class A2. Watch the ‘Oncilla’ page for progress.
